INCORPORATING EXISTING FURNISHINGS, MOMENTOS & ART PART II

A recent CKID client, on Mercer Island, hired us to update her family room and adjoining kitchen eating area – but asked us to reuse the sofa and chair. The look was dated, but the pieces were high quality and comfortable and had proved extremely useful in a home frequented by young children. Acknowledging our client’s desire to reuse pieces, CKID recovered a glider and two sofas with a performance fabric that will resist fading – as well as stand up to spills and spots at the hands of little ones. A classic coffee table was brought back to life with a vibrant new finish that promises many more years of enjoyment.

  • While not all existing furnishings are candidates for reuse, many solidly built pieces can blend in seamlessly with newer furnishings after cosmetic enhancements. And beloved decorative items inherited or acquired during travels can continue to stand proud after just a little attention.

  • When done mindfully, integrating existing items into your redesign can not only add character to your home, but also allow you to allocate your redesign budget towards newer, higher-quality pieces. CKID can help you keep a little bit of the past – while creating an interior that’s ready for the future.
